I’ve always the creative urge to paint, even though I’ve never had any “official” training-I’m sure those of you who have, will probably be able to tell-I thoroughly enjoy putting color on a canvas.
As usual though, my original direction for this painting is not where I ended up. I originally wanted an artichoke painting; I love their color of green, and how they look. This is how I started out:
Somewhere in the middle, when the picture wasn’t completely turning out the way I thought it would, I changed directions and decided to paint “lovebirds”. My picture was based off of an image I found on Google. I mod-podged paper onto the canvas to give the background some texture before covering it with paint primer and FolkArt Metallic Taupe.
To create the picture, I used these fabulous colors:

I added the tree, and then the lovebirds and leaves.

My end result, and I’ll be keeping in for a while.

At some point I know I’ll be needing an abstract piece(s) for my walls, so I’m looking for the perfect inspiration!
